Thank you very much! I was installing a new XAMPP in a certain folder. Copied my old database & my web files to the new XAMPP, then the connection error occurred. Your videos made me realize that the migration does not include the users, thus no DB_USER & no DB_PASSWORD. Had to either recreate them again or just use the default ROOT user without password, which was not a problem since it’s only development. However, I was just wondering, is there anyway to import the DB_USERs during migration?

It’s your host…I would look for a new host.

My website just said “Error establishing a database connection” out of no-where and then after a couple of hours it just started working again, and now after the 4th or 5th day it just went back to the”Error establishing a database connection” message again. Do you know why it does that? I’m hosted with media temple. Is it a server problem? I checked all everything from your video and still no
good result. Any suggestions?

Amazing. I checked and double checked that file and then I realized I’d written the description of the DB in the DB_Name are not the actual DB_Name. But not even Go Daddy recognized that, and that’s something they can see, geeze louze. Thanks a lot, better when someone can see it visually then fight through the forums that are a mess. People double check and check again that you didn’t copy the DB Description instead of the Name (Go Daddy). Blond moments happen to the best designers. Thank again for taking the time to do this much much appreciated.

I was struggling with the answer but your info saved me after 2 days trying to fix it…moved form one server to another server and never realized the DB were wrong.
