Download Customized iNove Theme Files

January 5th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

I’ve done a little customization of the iNove theme — Version 1.1.4 — to change the colors. You can see them by using the theme changer in the sidebar on the right. Click the link below to download a zip file containing the changed files. To use, simply unzip and replace the files in the default iNove theme with the ones in the unzipped folder. Note, I only include the files in the zip that were changed.

By request here is the theme author’s site: http://www.neoease.com

Is there a particular reason that you are not linking back to the original theme author’s web site inside this post?

  2. January 5th, 2009 at 17:38 | #2

    Welcome whoareyou :-)

I’m not redistributing the authors theme…just some changed images. People have to download the theme to be able to use the images. But, just to make you happy…I’ll do that right away. You’re just a little ray of sunshine aren’t you? ;-)

    >> But, just to make you happy…I’ll do that right away.

if my way is the right way, then why you didnt do it that way in the first place?

  4. January 6th, 2009 at 21:52 | #4

Just to be clear…bottom line…I could do whatever I want with that theme…it’s GPL. However,

    1. I’ve posted only edited images and css from the theme for free.
    2. I haven’t posted for download the entire theme.
    3. No one can use these images unless they download the theme.

I posted this on the theme author’s website:

    mg12,

I really like your iNove theme…one of the best I’ve seen. Thanks for making it available. I’m using it on my WordPress Video Tutorial site. I’ve also edited some of the image files to change some basic colors and have made them available for download on my site. Hope you don’t mind me doing that…if so, just let me know and I’ll remove them.

That’s great work! thanks for you support.

The theme author thinks it’s great and thanked me for doing it, but YOU somehow have a problem with it?

Take a chill-pill and get over yourself.

You can spew your anger all you want on your own site, and it seems they allow you to do a lot of it in the WP.org forums — but not here…I have no problem deleting your comments and/or blocking your future post.

EDIT: Looks like the mods at WP.org cleaned up Whoo’s flame I linked to above…good on them.

Hey fig. Your videos are a fantastic supplement to the written docs. I’m a long time WordPress user and support forums participant. Keep up the great work and don’t bother with… [EDITED OUT BY SITE ADMIN...]

Thanks for the positive comments about the videos WPUser00. There will be a lot more free videos and theme customizations coming during the upcoming months.

I don’t intend to bother with anyone; however, I edited out your not-so-flattering comment…not the place for it. I intend to keep things civil here and if I need to simply start deleting comments, or even close them altogether, then I’ll do it. This is my hobby site dedicated to giving back to the 99.99% of the positive people in the WP community and I don’t intend to let negative trolls (not directed at you) take it over.

First of all, don’t you hate commenters with an axe to grind?

Anyway, the author’s site is apparently in Chinese and I can’t make heads or tails of it. Since you seem to be a knowledgeable user of the iNove theme, perhaps you can tell me what’s different in the 1.1.2 release? I’m using a modified version of 1.1.1 and can’t simply update with a quick click.

  8. January 14th, 2009 at 21:11 | #8

Yea, fortunately comment moderation and SPAM filters can take care of them pretty well :-)

I haven’t looked at the latest release yet, but I plan to do that this weekend. When I do I’ll post a basic review here in a new post…from casual reading, I think one of the changes is that the header-footer graphic may now be split into separate graphics…which, if that is the case, then it will make customizing those a bit easier. I’m not sure what functional changes may have been made, but I’ll look into it.

This is really good because it gives people the choice of how they want the site to look. Is there a way to put the theme picker in for example a page titles ‘my account’ instead of in the side bar and or a small drop down menu to select from if in the side bar?

  10. January 19th, 2009 at 19:16 | #10

Yes, the plugin has a setting where you can have the themes show as a list, like I have it, or in a drop-down. If I add many more in the future, then I will probably change it to a drop-down menu.

This page contains the following errors:

error on line 2 at column 6: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

    Luciano,

The only thing I’ve done with iNove is customize some of the graphics, colors, and header size. I’ve done no work with feeds. If you have questions about the functioning of iNove you may want to post on the author’s blog…he is very active there and answers a lot of questions. Good luck.

    @figaro
    Ok, obrigado. Vou fazer isso.

Hello, I downloaded your inove theme with the big header….great help! I want to change the entire background to tan but am having trouble with the bottom part – it remains gray. Any suggestions?

  15. February 23rd, 2009 at 14:05 | #15

@Daniel Fleet: It’s all (header and footer) one image, so you should be able to change everything.

  16. February 23rd, 2009 at 20:55 | #16

    Figaro,

Thank you for your help previously! After upgrading and playing around with my theme… My background was thrown all out of whack. I have it as plain grey now, but I would like to go back to the defaut Inove background. I’ve been messing around with the light.gif and bg.jpg files to fix it. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Brad

My website is CollegeRecipes.com. Sorry I didn’t include that earlier.

  18. February 23rd, 2009 at 21:36 | #18

    @Brad Ryan
Have you tried downloading a fresh copy of iNove, extracting it, and then replacing the light.gif and bg.gif files in your existing theme with those from the fresh copy? That should get you back to the default background.

    BTW…thanks for the donation…much appreciated.

Как сделать, чтобы тема iNove смотрелась нормально в IE-6?

  20. March 27th, 2009 at 23:24 | #20

@Hellsing: Not sure…haven’t used IE6 in a long time. You may want to post to the theme authors blog and see if he has suggestions.

Hi Figaro – how do I get rid of ‘catagories’, ‘Archives’ etc from the side panel, and the comments box at the bottom of the iNove theme?
    THanks

  22. March 30th, 2009 at 10:14 | #22

@Darron: Just add a widget and that will automatically remove all the standard items.

  23. May 16th, 2009 at 03:01 | #23

New user and new to wordpress. Your videos and site have been a big help, thank you.

I also want to change the background colors and have downloaded your red files to see if I could figure it out. Looks like the two main images to change are the light.gif and bg.jpg (I don’t care about header yet). When I change the color on light it makes the change on my site, though I still have the previous color in parts. When I change the bg image nothing happens. What am I missing?

  24. May 18th, 2009 at 00:15 | #24

    @jasasser
    Have resolved this now. Thanks

  25. September 28th, 2009 at 19:20 | #25

Thx Figaro, I’m having the hardest time with importing a new background such as you’ve done with the grey brick wall on this page.

*I’m also having trouble with my “Search” bar. I’m thinking something in the css code was removed. Would you happen to have the default code?

    Many thx again.

    Hi figaro,

Just want to ask, do uhave the psd version of iNove’s widgetsep.png?
    Thanks.

  27. December 28th, 2009 at 09:55 | #27

@neorackle: No…I just put a layer over the original and added the color.
